There is no single “best” drive for extrusion blow molding. Hydraulic, servo-hydraulic and hybrid systems differ in how they deliver clamping force, energy use in standby, and maintenance. Match the drive to product size, clamp demand, cycle rate and cleanliness — not to a marketing label. Ask suppliers which axes are servo-driven and how energy is measured (kWh per kg of accepted product).
Choose continuous extrusion or an accumulator head by cycle mass, parison sag risk, resin behavior, cavity layout and changeover — not by litres alone. The same nominal volume can need different architectures when part weight and geometry differ. Continuous suits many lighter, multi-cavity runs; accumulator heads help when a heavy parison must be delivered quickly. Use one RFQ package so both architectures can be compared fairly.
Size the machine from the drum’s total shot weight, not from litres on the drawing. Work through shot weight → accumulator volume → clamping force → extruder output vs cycle → mold envelope, then ask the supplier for a calculation sheet. Published tonnage bands for 200 L vary widely across vendors because definitions differ — treat them as starting points, not answers. UN rating applies to the drum design, not to the machine itself.
